Menina is a children's picture book co-created by writer Henriqueta Cristina and me, Joana Mosi, resulting from the Zunto Na Gai project - Plan of Initiatives to Combat Female Genital Mutilation, promoted by Akto and Casa da Esquina. Artistic creation is used to raise awareness among the young about FGM as a harmful traditional practice and a violation of the rights of women and girls, not only through history, but also by providing a guide to help adults and children discuss and reflect on this practice.
The money raised from the sales of this book is fully reverted to support Akto's mission of providing a safe space and support to victims. |
